FAQ
Q. Can I use a regular stamp pad to fingerprint someone?
A. The ink found in fingerprint tubes and pads is a specially formulated ink, designed to ink the small ridges of the fingers. Other types of ink will not provide this level of detail. This usually results in the fingerprint card being rejected by the agency you are submitting your cards to. Always use an ink that is designed specifically for fingerprinting purposes to avoid this. Stamp pads from stationary stores are not appropriate for rolling fingerprints.
General Tips to obtain fingerprints:
- The height of the fingerprinting equipment table should be such that the forearm of the individuals is parallel to the floor
- Wipe and dry the individual's fingers.
- If individual's fingers are too rough, use lotion to soften the fingers and wipe.
- Use the right amount of ink. Too little ink will cause the impression will to be too light. Too much ink will cause it to create a big stain with out the ridges' details.
- If one of the printings is not acceptable, use our adhesive re-tabs to cover the fingerprint and roll that particular finger again.
