The NRS Pick-of-Life Awls are meant for self-rescue. They allow the user to crawl on top of the ice using the picks as traction. One can also slide them to someone who has fallen through the ice. They come with 4" long plastic handles and each have a retractable sheath covering the 1" long picks along with 5 1/4' cord that attaches the two handles and has reflective ticking for low-light conditions.
