RescueTECH 1/2" Extractor 3:1 Confined Space Rescue Kits
FOR INDUSTRY - Easy to use. Meets OSHA 1910.146 Mechanical
Retrieval Device. Meets ANSI Z359.1 vertical lifeline.
FOR RESCUE - Used as 4:1 Block & Tackle or "piggy-backed" onto
main rescue haul line. Reduces training needs for mechanical advantage systems.
Great re-direct pulley with built-in safety. NO loss of haul due to slack in
prusik cord or external camming safety.
LIFTING SAFETY- Unit works as a hauling system with "deadman's"
safety. Included safety pin holds cam in either open (rope will run freely in
both directions) or in safety position. Rope will move in hauling direction only
and cannot be removed or fall out when safety is engaged. Haul-Safe may be used
horizontally and can be attached to a haul line to act as a 4 or 5:1 hauling
system.
REMOTE LOWERING CAPABILITY - The attached cable allows remote
control of safety cam. This makes it possible to place the haul safe unit where
it cannot be directly accessed. The Extractor design provides over 135 degree of
hauling line movement. It does not limit hauling team to standing "in-line" with
the rope system. The pulley sheaves are equipped with Oilite bushings and will
accept ropes up to 1/2" diameter. Tensile Strength: 10,000 lbf.

General Information: During normal use it should not be necessary to remove
rope from the Extractor unit. If it becomes necessary, one should remove the
secondary safety spring detent pin. With it removed, the plastic cam-opening
trigger can be pushed up and forward enough to allow the rope to be removed from
the safety cam retaining hook. The large securing carabiner can be removed and
the pulley side plate revolved far enough to allow the rope to be removed.
Replacement of the rope in the unit requires reversing this process.
CAUTION Before
using this equipment always inspect the rope, harness, etc., for signs of
deterioration or damage. If any part appears to be questionableDO NOT USE THE
UNIT. REPLACE PARTS BEFORE USING. If you are unsure about the use or condition
of this equipment, contact manufacturer before using. 1. Remove the Extractor
unit from the storage case (leave the rope in the case to prevent contamination
and tangling) and attach the Rigging Carabiner to a suitable anchor point.
Attach the Offset D Steel Carabiner to the load. 2. To extend the lifting pulley
and carabiner, carefully pull the wire cable to depress the spring-loaded cam
away from the rope. This allows the rope to run free. It is not necessary to
remove the secondary safety spring detent pin. As soon as you release the cam it
will automatically return to the locked position. 3. Attach the carabiner on the
lifting pulley to the load. This will be a designated lifting ring on a harness,
H.D. Lifting bridle or other suitable Life Safety Auxiliary Device. NOTE: In
some circumstances the person will be attached to the system before entering an
area. If this is the case step 3 could precede step 2. 4. When lifting with the
system, pull at an even rate. Avoid jerky movements. Because of the 4:1
mechanical advantage and high strength of the components a person may be injured
if lifting is attempted when the person is caught or otherwise restrained.
ALWAYS assign a rescuer to maintain contact with the victim to prevent such
circumstances. 5. The unit should be stored in the retracted position. The
lifting pulley should be next to the Extractor frame. This helps prevent
tangling of the rope. Always check the equipment for signs of deterioration or
damage before storage. Replace any portion that appears questionable.
