Ruth Lee Ligature Airway Manikin
The Ruth Lee Ligature Airway Manikin is a training dummy meant for the risky environment such as institutions that house vulnerable people. It is designed to train staff members in managing self-harm and suicides on a regular basis. The training includes the use of a hook knife to properly release a ligature. The manikin allows teams to sensitively and effectively manage the situation. Overall, the manikin is made from the flame retardant material used in police ballistic/stab vests. This gives it four times the strength and abrasion-resistance of 16 oz canvas or P.V.C.
It has anatomical features that allow the staff to practice airway management skills, with the hope of reviving someone who has hanged themself. It has anatomical landmarks including the substernal notch, rib cage and the sternum. This dummy trainer also contains esophagus, trachea, arytenoid cartilage, uvula, stomach, inflatable lungs, epiglottis, vocal cords, uvula and teeth. It allows for the placement of a nasogastric tube and accepts Combitube, E.O.A., E.G.T.A., P.T.L. and i-gel airways.
