Yellow 40
The Yellow 40 is a fluorescent dye-stain that is used to improve cyanoacrylate-developed latent prints. It can be applied either by spraying, dipping or squeezing the bottle. There are some researchers who advise to let the cyanoacrylate-developed prints "sit" overnight before applying the dye stain.
The Yellow 40 is a pre-mixed solution that does not contain any harmful solvents, and is non-flammable. It does not emit any kind of irritating fumes and can be used on surfaces such as leather, cans, and plastics after cyanoacrylate fuming. A forensic light source that will output light between 365 nm and 485 nm is required for this process.
