Ruth Lee Surf Rescue Manikin
The Ruth Lee Surf Rescue Manikin developed for surf life saving, IRB driver, tube rescue training and can withstand roughest surfing conditions including cold weather. Its arms are held aloft to make it easier to spot and then drag on board a moving boat. It provides uniformity in the weight and size of the casualties being rescued which is an important factor considered in competitions. This manikin works perfectly as a patient for the IRB rescue teams for practice in the colder months when volunteers are difficult to find. It allows crews to practice their abilities and techniques for performing rescues in rough conditions. Polyethylene strips running from the shoulders of the manikin go to the knees, allowing flexibility in and out of the water and prevent it from being too 'floppy'.
It helps bring crews together to discuss and make improvements in the IRB techniques and operations. It has been shortened to 1.5m to make it easier to manage for rescuers. The arms are built aloft to simulate a volunteer ‘patient’. No dislocated shoulders or wrists. Weighting has been lowered from the torso to the hips to make it more stable in the moving sea. A polypropylene loop to the back allows the manikin to be lowered into position or hung up to dry. Protective overalls on the manikin are user-replaceable and extend its life.
Features:
- Shortened to 1.5m to be more manageable for a range of rescuers.
- Dry weight reduced to 20kg, which increases to about 40+kg when pulled from the water.
- Weighting lowered from the torso to the hips to improve stability in a moving sea.
- Boots removed and replaced with durable PVC sleeves on lower leg to reduce drag during extraction.
- Arms are built aloft to simulate a volunteer 'patient' - no dislocated shoulders or wrists!
- A polypropylene loop to the back allows the manikin to be lowered into position or hung up to dry.
- Bright orange overalls and SOLAS reflective tape on the head make the manikins very conspicuous in open water.
- Polyethylene strips running from the shoulders to the knees allow flexibility in and out of the water but prevent the manikin from being too 'floppy'.
- Protective overalls are user replaceable and greatly extend the life of the manikin
- Height: 4' 9"
- Weight: 44 lbs. (20 kg)Dry and when wet 88 lbs. (40+ kg)
